Prospective students & post-docs
Thank you for your interest in the Bassing Lab. We are a collaborative team of scientists dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where we bridge applied and basic ecological research using field-based and quantitative methods.
Graduate student and postdoctoral positions are contingent on available funding. Any fully funded positions will be posted here and on various job boards. I generally only accept graduate students and hire post-docs I have full funding for, but will consider individuals that bring their own grant or fellowship funding. Prospective students and post-docs are also encouraged to apply for their own funding; I would be happy to discuss co-developing grant and fellowship applications if your research interests align with my research goals. Please send me a brief email including the name(s) of the funding opportunity you wish to apply for, how the project aligns with the research in our lab, an overview of your research experience/general research interests, and your motivation for joining the lab. Please also include a current CV with your email. All prospective graduate students should also consult the MSU Ecology graduate admissions information.
We are eager to support undergraduate research in our lab and do so through fieldwork, data-processing internships, and undergraduate research projects. Interested undergraduates are encouraged to contact me via email with a brief description of your area of interest, major, and any relevant experience. I will post any undergraduate research or field technician positions here and on various job boards, including the MSU ecology job board, and welcome discussions about developing student-led research.
